In one of studies about happiness in marriage conducted by Gallup organisation in 1989, About 60% responder (in United States) assuming that their marriage were “ very happy.” But only 66% of them said that their couple esteem their opinion; only 64% said that their couple make they feel they were important; Only 51% said that their couple were romantic. From here we can see that in the average marriage in America, happiness was … vague.
Do the lack of happiness in household was a big problem? Of course. Tens of studies, some conducted by National Opinion Research Center concluded that the best yardstick of happiness was happiness in household. People who have happiness marriage having children can live with, healthier psychologically and physical.
In one analysis of more than 18.000 people from 39 states reported that woman was happier than man; and married woman was the most happier woman (followed by married man, unmarried woman, unmarried man).
Do people desire happiness in marriage? Most couple reported that there was regular effort they do to maintain and improve the happiness in marriage. When asked in Gallup survey, "If you could repeat yout marriage, would you marry the same people?” 88% answered “yes”, and surprisingly 26% of people whom “not happy at all” in their marriage also said “yes”. This shows there are many people which do not want to " surender" in trying out happiness in marriage. They want to be a winning family
